    BRASS-A-HOLICS

World Famous GoGo Brass Funk Band

World Famous GoGo Brass Funk Band

In the year 2010, a brand new sound was born. The Brass-A-Holics Band and the Go-go Brass Funk genre joined the ranks of the time honored traditions, culture and music that have come out of the great city of New Orleans, Louisiana. The ensemble contains the core New Orleans brass elements – trumpet, trombone, saxophone and sousaphone, but also adds a full drum set, percussion, keyboard, and an electric guitar for a unique sound that is transcending the traditional world of brass band music. A Brass-A-Holics live show is a singular experience. Where else can you hear the influences of Miles Davis, Nirvana, John Coltrane, Wham, Cyndi Lauper, Kanye West, and Louis Armstrong all in one set? Be warned that this sound is a powerful substance, both addictive and intoxicating. It is guaranteed that you will find yourself partying under the influence and addicted to the Brass-A-Holic sound!

  • DONATE

As a hub for black commerce and culture during the days of segregation, the historic 4th Avenue Business District is one-of-a-kind. The district set the scene for the taste makers of yesterday and stands today as a testament to the resilience of a people. Seeking to celebrate the spirit of the district, the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, inspired by the “Taste of Chicago,” launched the first Taste of 4th Avenue Jazz Festival in 2003. Now approaching its 15th year, this one-day event has become a popular summer staple and continues to be presented at no cost to attendees, in collaboration with Urban Impact, Inc., the Fourth Avenue Merchants Association, and the City of Birmingham.
Nationally-recognized and homegrown artists that have performed on the main stage include: Bobbi Humphrey, Kim Waters, Ben Tankard, Norman Brown, Euge Groove, Ronnie and Deborah Laws, Michael Ward, Joey Summerville, Dee-Lucas, the Birmingham Heritage Band, Bo Berry, Daniel “Jose” Carr, Lonnie Liston Smith, Roy Ayers and the 2018 festival headliner from New Orleans, LA, are the Brassaholics.
